Spring Balayage Ideas
Everything You Need To Know About Modern Balayage Trends
Most people don’t come into the salon asking for a completely different colour, they just want their hair to look fresher, brighter and easier to manage.
That’s exactly why balayage is one of our most requested services at Studio 74. It softens regrowth, adds movement and gives that natural, healthy shine without the harsh lines you get from traditional highlights. The result looks lived-in rather than freshly coloured and stays looking good for much longer.
Before we start any colour service, we always carry out a consultation. We’ll talk through your hair history, how often you want to maintain it and what result you’re realistically hoping for. The aim isn’t just to make it look good on the day — it’s to make sure you still like it weeks later.
Call us on 01733 577 599 to make your personalised hair lightening appointment today.
Please note: If you haven't had your hair coloured with us in the last 6 months, please book a quick allergy patch test at least 48 hours before your colour appointment.

What Does Balayage Actually Mean?
Balayage isn’t one single look, it’s a specialised colouring technique. The colour is hand-painted where your hair would naturally catch the light, instead of applied in uniform foils from root to tip. That’s why it looks softer and grows out far more naturally.
You won’t get a hard line when your hair grows, and you don’t feel like you have to rebook every 6 weeks just to keep it looking tidy. It can be subtle or noticeable depending on how much contrast you want — we tailor it to you rather than copying a photo exactly.
Balayage is designed to be lower maintenance. Most clients refresh it every 8–12 weeks, sometimes longer depending on the look they choose. You might only need a toner or a gloss in between to keep it fresh rather than repeating the full service.
We’ll always suggest a plan that suits your routine — not one that keeps you stuck in the salon chair unnecessarily.
Top Colour Trends For Spring
Soft Face Framing
Sometimes you don’t need a full colour refresh, just brightness around the front.
A soft, lighter frame around the hairline (often called money piece highlights) lifts your complexion and draws attention to your features. It makes your hair look styled even when it isn’t, adding shape and dimension with very little effort.
Because the brightness is focused at the front, money piece highlights give that fresh, polished look without committing to high-maintenance colour. It’s one of the easiest ways to look refreshed while keeping the rest of your hair natural and low upkeep.
Lived-In Blonde
For clients who want to be lighter but don’t want constant upkeep.
We blend your natural root into brighter mid-lengths and ends so the grow-out stays soft. Most people can leave it much longer between appointments compared to traditional highlights.
Bronde & Warm Tones
Not everyone suits icy blonde - and that’s fine.
Warmer tones like honey, caramel and soft beige often look shinier and healthier, especially in natural light. Balayage works really well for adding dimension through darker hair so it doesn’t look flat.
Balayage For Brunettes
You don’t need to go blonde to see a difference.
Adding lighter pieces through the mid-lengths can create movement and texture while still keeping your overall colour rich. It’s ideal if you want change without feeling “too light”.
Keeping The Hair Healthy
One of the biggest concerns with lightening is damage — which is why we prioritise condition just as much as colour.
During lightening services we use WELLAPLEX, a bond-repair treatment that strengthens the hair while it processes.
It helps:
- Reduce breakage
- Maintain softness
- Improve shine
- Keep colour looking better for longer
If your hair already feels dry or over-processed, we may recommend treatments before or between colour appointments. Healthy hair always gives a better colour result.
